At the other end, the olfactory receptor cells in the epithelium from axons penetrate the cribriform plate of bone, reaching the olfactory bulb of the brain where they converge to terminate with postsynaptic cells to form synaptic structures called glomeruli. Each glomerulus receives information from olfactory sensory neurons expressing the same type of odorant receptor.
